A forward-thinking club
Dan O’Donnell, Tranmere International Technical Director, explains: "As a club we have to be innovative with the way we recruit players.
“Not having a rigid Academy frees up space at the training ground for our international sessions.
"TRFC International Academy began three years ago in China and I was fortunate enough to be one of the first coaches to travel there to deliver coach education and player development training.
"We also brought Chinese coaches to Tranmere to give them the insight into FA recognized coach education sessions and training programs for their elite players.
"Our chairman Mark Palios is very forward thinking and we thought our product would be the perfect fit for the American market and also for South East Asia.
“Last November we delivered an elite training program for Indonesian U16 National team players which was very well received and on the back of that we have an agreement with them to deliver sessions for the next two years.”
"We are a professional football club with pro license coaches and everything we do is in-house at our training ground and is football specific - it's where our first-team train and where our youth team train and it's also where Liverpool Women train.
"It's a great facility and we have the freedom to deliver coach education sessions and individual player programmes for foreign visitors.
"The insight you get here is a lot different to what you might get at the national development centre or at Premier League clubs.
"The individuals we are targeting will be getting really close to the action. They will train alongside our youth squads or Liverpool Ladies.
"We are not a huge club but that is our strength because it allows us to invest more time in these individual programmes."
